[PS2] Dragon Quest VIII .mds models

Hello everyone. I've been lurking for some time here, but had no reason to get an account up until now. I was able to extract the files from the .chr archive thanks to the TCRF user kojin, but as of now, there's no way to edit (or at least view) the .mds model files. Another TCRF user has created a tool for Dark Cloud 2's .mds, but they said it's different from the one used in DQVIII. Any input would be highly appreciated.

I ended up finding a script from this archive. It does appear to convert the models, but for some reason, they all appear squashed and stretched like in the screenshot below. Not sure if I should try using another model or if it's just a faulty script, but I used it on 3 .mds files and they all come out like this.
