Hello! I'm reposting this here, since I didn't achieve my goal in Xentax or other forums.
I'm having troubles with the Steam version of Chrono Trigger (the most updated one, with the original graphics, better UI and all those changes Square Enix made to the mobile port).
I'm trying to replace the actual font of the game for the English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish translation of the game, and it seems to be packed inside a file called 'string_2.bin'. I've tried a lot of ways to decrypt and unpack the file (that it is supposed to have a .ttf font inside and some other data), without results.
Maybe someone here can help me with this, since I would like to unpack what it is inside, replace it, and then, repack it again, with a script for QuickBMS or something.
The file in question is this:

Thanks in advance!

Bump, and thanks for moving the post to the correct sub-forum, aluigi.
I really need help with this file, it is very important for me so I can make a better mod for the UI for this game, since that font looks horrible and gives some problems with the localization for various languages.
Thanks in advance!

The file is probably all encrypted so only people who have the game, skills and interest may help you.

Just as I feared... and there is nothing we can do to decrypt those files? Everything else in the game is unencrypted (like PNG files, music files, .txt files with localization and dialogues...). The only exceptions are only the font files and the original SNES resources.

If it's a Steam game there is something you can do.
Decrypt the game executable with https://github.com/atom0s/Steamless/releases, upload it somwhere and put the link here.
Sometimes there are some users who like to analyze the encryptions used by games and maybe someone can figure out the algorithm and key.
Keep your expectations low, but it's something easy worth to try.

Hey, thanks for the tool! I've unpacked the .exe file as you said. Here is the link:

I hope someone can find an answer to the file encryption and help me with this...

Bumping this due to the need of decrypting the file.
