The following is the syntax:

Usage: ysext [options] <file.NI/NA/Z> <folder>

Options:
-r     rebuild the NI/NA archive using folder as input folder containing all
       the files you want to add
-a     append the files contained in folder to a pre-existent NA archive while
       the NI will be rebuilt since its format doesn't allow to append info
-x     decrypt a NI file without extracting its content (debug)
-X     encrypt a decrypted NI file (debug)
-l     list the files without extracting them
-n FD  specify the file which contains the number assigned to each archived
       file. this option is VERY IMPORTANT if you want to rebuild the NA
       archive since without the correct numbers the game will not work
       FD is the name of the file, output file in extraction or input in -r/-a
-f "W" extract/list/rebuild only the files which respects the W wildcard
-o     overwrite any existent file in folder during extraction without asking
-z     compress a file into a Z file
-e     show some usage examples
-i     show some informations about the NI, NA and Z files and their purpose

the default operation is the extracting of the files to the output folder.
folder is ignored with .Z files which will be created in the original location
without the .Z extension (so c:\file.dds.z will be recreated as c:\file.dds)

So, for extraction, it's enough to make a file.bat containing the following:

If you want to translate the game you have to learn its options and use it from command-line.

Hi,

Thank you aluigi for your ysext / xsoext tools, thank's to that, a French JRPG fan translates the PC versions of Ys Origin, The Oath in Felghana, and the others to French. She became to write some text files but with your tools and our help, she successfully made patches.

But like adol125, we saw that there is no XSO files in Ys I or Ys II (Chronicles+ version, 2013, not the old Japanese one), so after extracting with ysext, we can't find the texts to translate (except those in BMP).

At this link you can find the game data files of Ys I, if you or someone can help.
