This is kinda confusing. Judging by strings inside these files, they're clearly models, I just need to get a way to convert them to something useful

It uses the NeoX Engine, but it has another file extension.
Just rename the .dat to .mesh with the Total Commander's multi rename tool and you can open it with the 3D Object Converter v6.538.
Just install or use the portable version of v6.50 and use the Help/Check for updates... function to get it (v6.538).
Unfortunately your content has texture files with .dat extension also!

Any alternative converter options that don't require me to shell out 60 bucks just to convert the two models I want without holes in them? It's an amazing program I'll admit but currently I can't afford to blow 60 bucks on a program I'll rarely use.

It costs 50 USD only (lifetime license), but the choice is yours.
