Higurashi Daybreak Portable Mega Edition (PSP) - *.PCK archive file

Post by PartTimeWarrior »

Hi there!

I want to take a stab at translating this game.
All the data is inside a "gzpack.pck" file, except for music and movie files.

First and last two megabytes using filecutter.bms :

First : https://mega.nz/#!vNAHBarD!8kauLlXh1WGu ... 9AXSPxz6Os
Last : https://mega.nz/#!HQ5RHSBa!p7CZTpcTDUAg ... 48otKum-wA

Full archive : https://mega.nz/#!XRJTiSZD!bS2u1dq1AnLX ... DDozni9GFU (311MB)

Have a nice day!

Thank you so much, it works like a charm!
Any way to repack all the files?

Edit : Upon further inspection, I noticed that some texture files appear to be somewhat butchered.

Here's a sample :

How the texture should appear in-game :

I'm guessing this is a problem with the way the archive got extracted, since there's multiple sprite sheets of the same type in the game files and they look fine.

The files are simple gzip files so they get extracted correctly "as-is".
You can use the reimport feature of quickbms for reimporting the edited files, read section 3 of quickbms.txt

Oh sorry, I didn't know it was a simple gzip file.

I've tried to use the reimport feature, though every time I wanted reimport an edited file into the archive, it was bigger than the original one.

I've tried to create an archive from scratch using 7zip, but failed to do so. The game crashed when I launched it with the created archive.
I'm guessing I did something wrong when I packed the files. My archive doesn't behave the same way the original does : when I try to open the original one with 7zip, I get a "There are some data at the end of the payload data" error, but mine opens fine.
