RaceRoom Racing Experience .public

Post by AMG »

Hello!

Aluigi. I see you already made a script for the .jce format, and I read you already know the format changed since 2014, so I bet you already took a look on this new data ;)
Anyway, just in case I'm wrong and misunderstood (but I doubt) I can attach a package with some data related to a car of the game :)

Cheers!

I have just read the message in the header of the script.
Apparently the script is no longer useful:

Code: Select all

#   IMPORTANT NOTE
#   From 2014 the JCA files no longer contain file information, they are simply
#   stored in the archive as raw files and so it's no longer possible to extract
#   them. You need a file ripper to dump the recognized files.
I really forgot that.

The public files are simply compressed with lzma2 using a particular prop byte.

I have updated my script to version 0.2a, now it's able to decompress the kluns.public files to kluns:
http://aluigi.org/papers/bms/raceroom.bms

For the JCA files I have added a very slow scanner/ripper in the script but I suggest to use a real ripper (Dragon Unpacker should have a ripper in it).

Hi Luigi,

after using WTCCed the files seem to be decrypted, that went well.
When i try to use your new raceroom script i get this message.
it doesn´t matter what file i try, filesize indicator and text are always identical.
Am i doing something wrong?

0xffffb10f is the magic of the files encrypted with the wtcced algorithm, so you using the script on the still-encrypted files.

tried it again...and failed again.
it seems to me that wtcced does not decrypt the files.
i used the -k raceroom parameter and your latest WtCCed version.
of course i get a folder called "raceroom" with all new files in and they should be decrypted right!?

but it seems to me there are not because when i now use your .public script it shows the error message from above....

Could you please tell me what i am doing wrong:?:

Wait, I have checked the files of Raceroom and they are not encrypted... why are you using wtcced on them?!?

The note in the header of the script is referred to the JCA files for which the script was originally written, the support for the public files has been added just recently.

When you use wtcced on non-encrypted files, it encrypts them. That's why you have that 0xffffb10f magic.

So use the script directly on the public files.

I have just specified in the header of the script that the note is specific for the JCA files, just to avoid misunderstandings.

Sorry for bothering you but i just would like to get this to work.

thanks for clarifying, i have now managed to decompress the .public.kluns files.
then i tried to use your existing raceroom script for .kluns files, but it´s not working.

Here is the messsage i get this time:

- GUI mode activated, remember that the tool works also from command-line
where are available various options like folder scanning, filters and so on

- select the BMS script or plugin to use
- select the input archives/files to extract, type * or "" for whole folder and
subfolders
- select the output folder where extracting the files
- open input file C:\Users\xxx\Downloads\car_template.kluns
- open script C:\Users\xxx\Downloads\quickbms_0.6\Raceroom_kluns.bms
- set output folder C:\Users\xxx\Downloads

offset filesize filename
--------------------------------------

That script was only an experiment to extract some DDS files without using file rippers.

Anyway I have just updated it a bit but mainly to put in the header the warning that it's experimental and, moreover, useless.
Anyway now it should be able to extract some additional kluns resources.

Little note about raceroom.bms, I have just found one car_template.kluns.public that can't be decompressed... it's just a note, there is no solution and interest for that file. The script works perfectly with all the other public files.

Copy that!
I was able to decompress all files from kluns, public into just .kluns files.
Unfortunately i stuck from there because your old raceroom_kluns script doesn´t work (at least for me :( )

Is there a chance that you might update your .kluns script so that we can extract the .kluns files?
Or can i use a ripper or whatever to extract those files?

Sorry for might being a pain in the .... but i really would love to get my hands on these files....

Use a generic file ripper for the kluns files like the one in Dragon Unpacker (Hyper ripper I guess it's the name).

There will be no updates for the script because it's not a simple format that can be easily scripted.
