Sniper Elite III *.asr (Asura Engine)
Hi folks!
Luigi's script for the Asura Engine (http://aluigi.altervista.org/papers/bms/asura.bms) doesn't work for the asr/ssm of the new Sniper Elite III. Can somebody have a look?
Here are samples from PC, PS3 and Xbox 360: http://*USE_ANOTHER_FILEHOSTING*/0bc50a4 ... samples.7z
Thanks for your help!

Re: Sniper Elite III *.asr (Asura Engine)
They added an additional 8byte value that seems to specify if the files exist in the archive (0) or not (1).
Script updated.

Re: Sniper Elite III *.asr (Asura Engine)
Well yes, in your list it's 0.2.5 but inside the script it's the old 0.2.4 with only Sniper Elite 1 and 2 supported.
Sorry to bother you with this...

you are watching the cache of your browser
Code: Select all
# Asura engine (script 0.2.5)

Don't worry, it happens often that people don't see the new versions of the scripts.
I already have the appropriate options in htaccess but they changed nothing to force browsers to download the new updates.

Hi Aluigi! First thanks for the work on QuickBMS!
I want to update this topic since I have been using the asura script on Sniper Elite 4, but I have strong suspicion that it doesnt extract all the models it should have.
For instance there are several weapons that is extracted that miss their magazine models.
Can you take a look at the script please?
Thanks for your time.

Re: Sniper Elite III *.asr (Asura Engine)
Are you using quickbms 0.7.7 and asura.bms 0.2.7?
Have you checked the "coverage" percentage at the end of the process in quickbms?
Have you seen a smaller size of the output folder than the input archive?

Yes I use 0.7.7 version and 0.2.7 script.
Coverage reported by QuickBMS is 56%.
The size of input and output are similar. (- The models missing are small in size.)
btw. Another forumfriend working on some different models from the same game also said he was missing files after extraction.

Re: Sniper Elite III *.asr (Asura Engine)
Bug found and fixed, version 0.2.8
The problem was caused by the PACK_SIZE variable containing the size of the archive which wasn't updated after the decompression of the archive into the temporary file, basically it continued to use the old size.
Well done with the feedback, it was difficult to catch.

Re: Sniper Elite III *.asr (Asura Engine)
Hello!
Thank you Luigi for this brilliant tool!
However, I am having trouble using it hehe.
I'm on BMS version 0.11, and version 0.2.9 of the script. I'm getting 99% coverage as reported.
Textures extract just fine, but models extract as generic "files" with no extension and thus I can't open them in a program such as 3Ds Max.
Is there anything I might have missed?
Thank you!

Re: Sniper Elite III *.asr (Asura Engine)
It's normal for models in games, they often use custom formats and similar.
Feel free to post in the 3d section of the forum providing a sample file.
I bet there are already tons of information in old topics both here on zenhax and on xentax regarding other Asura-based games
