It's just gzip, open it with 7-zip.
The decompressed file doesn't seem an archive, probably a model or similar.

Huh. That's odd! Then I have no clue on where the level assets are stored, then, because all there is is the music, those .DFF files, and some .RWS files, though they are probably just the sound effects / dialog since the music is the same format.

Yeah, RWS should be the renderware sound system that contains both music and audio.
