I mean xbdecompress.exe, the official tool.

Well... I get the error message that it was compressed with another version. Are there several versions ob xbdecompress.exe out there? I could only find a single one.

Alternatively try with quickbms, it seems to work:

comtype xmemdecompress
get SIZE asize
get NAME filename
clog NAME 0 SIZE SIZE
