Warhammer 40,000: Darktide Audio

Post by schnoodle »

Hey there,

While the full soundtrack (mix) is available for Darktide, I would like to use the actual loops for my personal D&D campaign(s) as they make good fight music, and monster sounds (It's in a virtual tabletop).

It seems to use oodle 8 (oo2core_8_win64.dll), but no existing oodle-oriented bms scripts work for the files. They're also very strange, as the bundles don't even have file extensions:

Code: Select all

...Warhammer 40,000 DARKTIDE\bundle> dir /b /o:gn
application_settings\
data\
dlc\
000957451622b061
000b7a0d86775831
00231e322d01c363
00261a79914f71f3
00276f6f2c4a2b1d
00308de8a5d20963
0031d4259eb8c586
00389ae0177625ce
0038c98943033cd5
... and so on
As far as I know, oodle files usually are .pak or .psarc — am I correct? And along with that, I have no idea which of these files will be audio-related, as they're all just thrown into a couple folders without direction. I'm not sure how much to give here, I can provide more if needed.

Here's a folder with the first few files from base + the data folder.

Would someone be able to create a script to help me?

Solved!

Everything audio is in the /data subfolder(s), and they can be extracted using alphatwentythree's wave scanner bms script. Then I just threw the subsequent .lwav files into foobar2000 with the vgmstream component, which allowed me to listen to and convert the files to other formats.

HUGE thanks to AncientV25! They were very patient in explaining how, really, everything worked, and directed me towards the above tools to get what I wanted!

For others, note that there's no particular structure to anything. You'll just have to unfortunately scan through all the files. I just extracted the entire /data folder, and I'm in the process of just manually looking at them in foobar2000.

Thank you for creating the thread and posting the solution! Now to sort through all these unlabelled sound files.
