Unity model viewer

Post by jonwil »

What's the best tool for viewing (and possibly converting) Unity model files these days? Even better is if there is a way I can open a unity archive file and then view the models that are inside it...

Well that was unnecessarily harsh.

That question could of been googled. Not asked in a "New Topic" about 3D models. Don't make sense, quick search would of found Asset Studio.
Next time use this https://www.google.com/

It literally found the post aluigi linked.

Maybe a little more effort ?

@DJ Normality: Exactly the same goes to you and people like Mysticus, who can't find a key within a few pixels from their posts, no google even required (which is approximate distance to my signature, where list with keys resides, in every second post in UE4 topic). So I should do the same next time and ask you to remove your nonsense from there, because it was also stated multiple times, that that topic is for general questions and keys related stuff was separated into other topic a long time ago.

Cute. So you jump on the post to talk trash ? I have no idea what your even talking about but ok. Good luck :D I never asked you for a key..

Funny.. you belittle everyone over on https://cs.rin.ru/forum/viewtopic.php?t=100672 yet i say 1 thing to someone in zenhax a place ive spent years at and you chime in talking about me asking you for stuff ? I have asked you for like 2 things Gears of War 5 and i dont even remember the other. Get real dude.

Matter fact why are you even here in 3D models ? To help ? Or....

@DJ Normality: No, you just don't care about doing minimal search in other topics, but accusing the OP doing the same thing as you, and with such attitude. Apparently, you don't even understand it yourself. That's usually called double standard and hearing such things from long time members only means that they didn't learn a thing after all those years. What a shame, truly.

I think it's much more complicated than that regarding Unity.
There have been many attempts to make complete scripts and tools supporting all the versions and variants of Unity files, and that caused many of them becoming obsolute and new ones popping out here and there quickly.
Indeed my post about Unity is not updated, I simply "suppose" that UABEA and UABE are the "current" tools nowadays.

Btw isn't Asset Studio obsolete?
Or is it complementary to the other two tools I mentioned?
And what about that AssetRipper tool mentioned in UABEA page?

Even I who see posts about Unity opened every day here on the forum I don't know much about all these tools...

Yeah but wouldn't that be archive formats or something? I feel like overall .unity files could be anything this isnt model data is all.

It is an archive format indeed (since it also contains audio, meshes, textures, scripts, and other data), but the format of the models and how to view and even "convert" them is definitely more complex.
I have absolutely no idea if these tools can dump the models in a ready-to-use format for other software.
Or if they are dumped in a format that can be imported into the Unity IDE and then exported in other formats from there.

Total mistery for me so any additional details would be welcome.

'I come across this program. Not sure what it is yet I was hoping to get some help here. Its called "DevXUnityUnpackerDemo". Seems to cost 500$ USD and im not really sure as to why. It managed to read these textures that Asset Studio could not. I tried everything couldnt even see the raw texture data. Yet this program was able to decompress assets ? Any ideas ?
