GT Racing 2 Audio Rip (.GLA)

Post by HWK_GA »

Hello all.

I have recently been attempting to rip the "soundpack" (soundpack.gla) file from Gameloft's old GT Racing 2 mobile/Win video game in order to tap into its music files. It is the first time I have ever used QuickBMS, so some guidance is well-appreciated.

Currently I've found two general-purpose scripts available for unpacking these GLA files: "gameloft.bms" and "voxarch.bms" ("Voxarch1" is the first line of decoded text in HxD)
The remaining ones such as "gameloft_asphalt.bms" are specifically intended for other games.

The game does not feature Gameloft's newer "GLA2" file format, only GLA.

As for the aforementioned tools, "gameloft.bms" ran into an error immediately, while "voxarch.bms" did something completely different.
Upon running voxarch, QuickBMS unpacked only certain items (most of which were voice lines or various sfx), and gave these files completely different names. For example, audio files like "m_two_mics_embarrassing_moment" ("m_" denotes a music track) are replaced with voice lines presumably from the opening sequences of the game. None of the files exported pertain to the game's music.

Has anyone worked with this game before and succeeded?
I just can't seem to get it right with these tools I'm finding.
