Mass for the Dead ASSET file extraction?

Post by TheEleh »

Been looking into the mobile game "Mass for the Dead" to get a hold of the models of the main characters to mess around with them in Blender, but the files have been one heck of a pain to open. I've been on a journey through a bunch of other forums that deal with these types of issues, but no luck. I've been able to find this game asked about a few times though, so that's why I'm here.

For context, I was able to find a thread on XeNTaX (https://forum.xentax.com/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=24400) by someone who also wanted to get a hold of the models. Originally, I thought this would be the answer. I was even able to run the same .bms script using QuickBMS from this thread and managed to convert everything into an ASSET file, but I can't seem to open them or know what to exactly do with them.

I've tried AssetStudio, AssetBundle, TinyRipper, and others with no luck. I've also tried reaching out to the folks in the thread above (they said they got their model), but I believe the person asking the question only made their account for this one thing, so I'm asking here.

If anyone wants to look through the files, here's a DropBox of the decrypted files after using the AdaptiveKeyDec script from that XenTaX thread: https://www.mediafire.com/folder/40m3924y9kgh2/u

If you would rather look at the unaltered files, there's a download for them in the XenTaX thread.

I feel like I'm missing something incredibly obvious, but any help would be very appreciated so I can learn for future reference. Thanks in advance.

UPDATE:

Okay, so big developments and discoveries since this post. First off, I found another script from here that I was able to modify and I managed to decrypt all the model files from the XeNTaX thread. I'll post that script here if anyone is interested in getting a hold of Sebas, Solution, Yuri Alpha, Entoma, Lupusregina, Narberal, or Shizu. They're located in the "u" (for Unity) folder.
Ainz' Cane.txt
Just run the decrypted files through AssetStudio afterward and you're good to go.

The problem is, I've come to the conclusion that there is still a gigantic chunk of the game's files missing considering what needs to be downloaded in-game and what I downloaded from that XeNTaX thread. I had my suspicions, but given this is the first I've had to try and decrypt anything, I gave it the benefit of the doubt.

I've personally been unable to get into the files through the means that I'm familiar with, so I'm going to have a look around to see if I can find how other people have been able to get into them. I'll update if I've found anything.

Hello friend, in the past I was trying to get the models too, but then I gave up, and then I decided to try again after a lot of back and forth like tryng to get the source code intercepting the downloading link with fiddle (My internet provedor don't gave me the password to liberate the port 8888 so I didn't finish the tutorial -.-''), download bluestack and nox to download the game and try to have the access to the files or even trying to create a virtual machine and put the vhd from the andoid there (Pretty obvius that it would not work), I went back in a post that were open in my browser and read with more atention, the post were about decrypting voices, but a image with a path called my atention and then...I found the solucion.

This was the post viewtopic.php?f=9&t=15671&hilit=mass+for+the+dead Screamshot 1, the last part of the path was overlord in katakana and for dmm.

I just search in google sensei "Mass for the dead for dmm" and the first result were a article about a japanese software that bring "mass for the dead" from mobile to pcccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccc!!!! the rest was easy.

Step by step

1 - Just click in "here" in the Link: https://news.qoo-app.com/en/post/53980 or https://overlord-game.com/dmg_temp

2 - Click in the sphere and then, in the right button to download dmm or try to get somewhere in in their website, just make sure to be for windows http://www.dmm.com/netgame/app/appstore/download.html
(When executing the .exe, remenber the path, Mass for the undead files will be there)

3 - Create your account

4 - Click in the left button and select the .exe or make download in the software.

You can check the path, my case: AppData\LocalLow\Exys Inc_\オバマス for DMM)

After that, just make the download for all assets, if you go in your path that you instalate (in my case C:\Users\MyUser\AppData\LocalLow\Exys Inc_\オバマス for DMM) the arquives will be inside of "r"

Well, I hope that this is somehow usefull to someone, some decrypt didn't work in some files, I am using both of the script that you altered (didn't check to see which one is the latest version + I nevert programming this kind of language and it is my first contact with this kind of cryptography, but I'll learn when I have time)

Good end of the year or good new year for you folks that are reading it.
