Basically I saved my old game client to Metal Assault from 2012 when it was hosted by Aeria Games, come to learn that I can successfully unpack it all with offzip and extract the sounds, graphics and some readable text.

I decided to try my hands at it again with the 2016 re-release of the game client hosted by Warp Portal, but come to find I can't unpack it, I only get errors. I'm not sure, but it might have something to do with it being attached to Steam, because I can't unpack the EU version either and that is also attached to Steam, but I can extract older international versions of the game client that have no connection to Steam just as Aeria Games version didn't.

Can anyone give me a hand to figure out how to extract this newer cvf file. It's actually smaller than the older one, but it contains more graphics and updated English translations. So I would like to get them if possible.
Any help is appreciated. I'm really new at this, I'm glad I tried with the AG version first, atleast I know I'm on the right track.

In old version, files inside CVF compressed by ZLIB.
Compression method of the new version is unknown.

Yeah I tried using offzip to figure out what the new compression method is, but I got nothing. It tells me to try a different method but it doesn't bare any fruit. Any suggestion?

I come to find out this was previously addressed, as posted here viewtopic.php?f=9&t=2609&hilit=cvf
I used QuickBMS with the mentioned script (http://aluigi.org/bms/sfilesystem.bms) and I was able to deflate this unknown compression cvf game file.
While offzip couldn't accomplish the task this time, QuickBMS was able too. So now I have two apps to utilize.
