[PS2] Y's 5 - Lost Kefin

Post by Hectavus »

Hello all,

I am interested in translating Y's 5 - Lost Kefin from Japanese to English but I've hit a brick way on getting the scripts. I've attached the ELF file which appears to include a breakdown of where the data is kept. I've tried multiple scripts thus far but with no luck. Any guidance or assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
H

To elaborate on where I'm stuck, looking at the attached file starting at offset 0024 6240 through to offset 0024 BE70, there is what looks like a list of files and directories. Immediately following that is an entry which indicates DATA.BIN, which is another file included within the disc image, with a subsequent list of files and directories. This pattern continues again with DATA0.BIN and DATA1.BIN, each starting at offsets 0025 2C20 and 0026 9240 respectively.

Is it fair to assume that each list corresponds to the data found within each file respectively?

I've been continuing to translate what is openly available in the included ELF file, i.e., the system menus, item descriptions, spell text, and ending text. I've had some success with each of these categories but I have still failed to understand how to extract the event dialogue. I would greatly appreciate any guidance on how to approach this matter.

Still stuck trying to locate the non-system text in this game. I would greatly appreciate any guidance or assistance if someone has the time.
