Bypassing Memory Card Check of a PSP game

Post by Shadow_Galecross »

Hello fellow gamers. I´m having problems starting Rewrite Disk 2 https://cdromance.com/psp/rewrite-jpn/ on my PS Vita because it does a startup check where it asks for removing the memory card and pushing "O" button for being able to continue.
Someone sent me a full translation of the game and asked me to do a QC but didn´t send me the modified ISO and I have been waiting for months.
Is there a way of removing this startup check and start straight to the VN?

Thank you in advance

So what's the issue? In the thread you linked it even has instructions for that
Install the game with Disc 1 and exit.
Run Disc 2 a message will appear in Japanese, remove the memory stick (yes you heard right) then press circle and insert it back in.
The game should then start after that.

I understand you're probably running the game from the card but does it not work if you remove it for a sec and put it back in on that screen?

In regards to bypassing the startup check it would require modifying the elf file or whatever, so without you posting the files no it's not possible, consoles aren't personally my thing but if ya want help will need to provide that at the very least.

I´m sorry to be such a bother but removing the memory card makes my ps vita to reboot . What files should I send you? I´m now in work so I can´t send it now

It's fine, I'm downloading the iso so i can use it with jpcsp to look at it to see if i can debug the memory card thing.

Edit: So it seems like it doesn't always do that check, you only need it the first time before it writes files to the memory card. If you just add the files I think it would basically act as the bypass for you anyways might be easier than trying to modify the game. Try adding that folder to your Save data (you should already have one called ULJM06364INSTALL from disk 1) if that doesn't work I can try to modify the game

Thank you! I will try it when I get home! I received system data and save data from the translator but I keep getting that annoying check

I checked this . Ps vita detected the savedata but when I started disk 2 it asked me to load the first one. That iso installed install data and then the same loop again. I would like to thank you for being so nice and helping me. I have tried to modify the iso deleting USRDATA/_slot but did the same . Now I'm clueless

So the process is supposed to be be you insert disk one and press the left button. That will create the first folder and prompt you to enter disk 2. You insert disk 2 and press the button until you get to the memory card error. Close out the game and copy the 2nd folder and then start with disk 2.

I'll try to look to see if there is a way to skip the remove process but I'd say try with the original ISOs from that link or start the process clean the way I described it (worked for me at least)
I'll let you know if I get it working with the skip.

Hello , I will explain how I followed your method.
First I renamed system data folder and loaded Adrenaline , a PSP loader for ps vita. Then I opened disk one and installed the install data .Finally it asked me to change the disk and I (forced) had to shutdown the game and load the other iso (I cannot hotswap) .I got the error one time , stopped the game and then restored your zip file folder but the same error occurs. Do you think I should have to hotswap in order to make it work? I'm sorry I can't be of more help

Hmm, I did just test with 2 different emulators and swapping the files between them (The data was completely different) and it did work. Have you tried with the original files? I'm wondering if the edited ones you're trying to use are playing a part in this. You can also try shooting me a Pm if you want to share the edits. Sadly the debugging for psp games is kind of niche and I'm not really having any luck trying to patch the memory card check. You could also try loading the edited version in PPSSPP or jpcsp (two emulators I tested with) and let it generate the files and copying that to your memory card to see if it works. Sorry I can't be of more help.
